I would like to thank everyone for making the September 2009 meeting a success. I personally define a successful meeting as one that I gain information to help solve new challenges, or a meeting that motivates me to revisit or improve upon old challenges. I also judge the success of a meeting on whether or not I met a new safety professional, or saw an old contact that I have not spoken to in a while. The September meeting met these benchmarks. I look forward to this month's meeting.
We identified an area of improvement at the last meeting, and it is discussed below.
The Problem:
If there was anything that could have gone better at the general membership meeting it would have been the timeliness and organization of the lunch distribution.
The Solution:
The executive committee & I have come up with a solution. I am asking members to RSVP and pay the meeting fee in advance when possible. Those members that I spoke to about this already, like the idea. Also, it seems that payment by credit card is the most preferable way to pay the meeting fees.
The New Meeting Process:
Those members planning to attend the October General Membership meeting are being asked to RSVP no later than 9:00 AM the morning of the meeting. The orders will be printed and faxed to Big Al's Restaurant around 9:30 AM. Big Al's will have the RSVP lunches ready and distributed for 11:30 AM. We have a Pay Pal account set up on the Chapter website for meeting fee payments. This will make for a more quick efficient meeting. If this RSVP setup is as successful as anticipated, we will continue with this in the future. It will only cost the Chapter about a dollar per person to use pay pal. Meeting fees will not have to change.
According to Jonathan, Bayou Chapter Treasurer, the large turnout at the September meeting profited around $200.

Those that do not RSVP will either have to order the daily special when they arrive at Big Al's, or have their meal brought out after the Guest Speaker presents (like in the September meeting).
And remember, active members eat free at the Chapter's crawfish boil in May. An active member is one that attends at least 50% of the General Membership meetings.
See you at the meeting and please,
Répondez s'il vous plaît.
Thanks & have a safe day,
